Paige Davis and Amra-Faye Wright to Rejoin Cast of Chicago on Broadway
The actresses will take over for current stars Jennifer Nettles and Carly Hughes.
The company of Broadway's Tony Award-winning musical Chicago is pleased to welcome back two Broadway favorites: Emmy Award nominee Paige Davis as Roxie Hart and Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly. The duo will take over for current stars Jennifer Nettles and Carly Hughes, who conclude their limited engagements playing Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly at the Ambassador Theatre, on March 29.
Paige Davis has appeared on Broadway in Boeing-Boeing and in the national tours of Sweet Charity and Beauty and the Beast. She is best known to television audiences as the host of TLC's Emmy-nominated series Trading Spaces. Amra-Faye Wright has the distinction of being the only actress to have played Velma Kelly on five continents, including in a four-week 2011 engagement in Japan in 2011, where she performed the role entirely in Japanese.
The current cast of Chicago also stars stars Tony Award nominee John Dossett as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Matron "Mama" Morton, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines.
