Laura Osnes to Return to Role of Nellie Forbush in Broadway’s South Pacific

Laura Osnes will return to the role of Nellie Forbush in Lincoln Center’s revival of South Pacific, beginning January 5. The production is currently playing the Vivian Beaumont Theater, under the direction of Bartlett Sher. Osnes replaces original star Kelli O’Hara, who will play her final performance on January 3.

Osnes previously played the role during O’Hara’s maternity leave this past spring and summer. She previously starred on Broadway as Sandy in the revival of Grease, after winning a nationwide talent search to cast that role on the NBC TV series Grease: You’re The One That I Want. Most recently, she played the title role in the new musical Bonnie and Cylde at the LaJolla Playhouse.

South Pacific also currently stars Paulo Szot as Emile de Becque, with Danny Burstein as Luther Billis, Loretta Ables Sayre as Bloody Mary, Andrew Samonsky as Lt.
