Glenn Close, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and More to Perform at Lapham's Quarterly Decades Ball

Lapham's Quarterly has announced a star-studded lineup of performers slated for its annual Decades Ball. This year's event, celebrating the 1870s, will be held on June 2 at Gotham Hall and emceed by Public Theater Artistic Director Oskar Eustis.

The evening's entertainment will include a series of readings and performances by stars of both stage and film. The bill will include three-time Tony winner Glenn Close (Sunset Boulevard) and Tony nominee Jonathan Groff (Looking, Frozen) singing Gilbert & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance, Maggie Gyllenhaal (The Real Thing) reading excerpts from Tolstoy's Anna Karenina, Tony winner Michael Cerveris (Evita) reading excerpts from Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days, and Taylor Mac (The Last Two People on Earth) singing temperance hymns, with additional readings from Lewis Carroll and Mark Twain.

Lapham's Quarterly is an award-winning journal of history, literature, and ideas that joins writings of the past with topics in current headlines. Historian Simon Schama will be presented with the Janus Prize by the Folio Society at this year's gala.
