Flashback Friday: You Saw the Spoof, Now Watch Elaine Stritch's "Ladies Who Lunch"
Stritch goes through hell in the recording studio as Company records its original cast album.
Earlier this week, IFC's Documentary Now premiered the episode Original Cast Album: Co-Op, a spoof of D.A. Pennebaker's acclaimed documentary that went behind the scenes at the recording session for Stephen Sondheim's musical Company. In Co-Op, writer/performer Paula Pell did a pretty spot on impression of Elaine Stritch, who famously went through hell recording her big number, "The Ladies Who Lunch." Now, watch Stritch's experience from the original, with her own attendant commentary.
