"Joe’s Pub in the Park" to Open at Delacorte This Summer

Shakespeare will have some pop-cultural icons joining him at the Delacorte Theater this summer: The Public Theater’s music venue, Joe’s Pub, in association with MTV and VH1, will present a two-week concert series in the Central Park venue that’s famous as a home for free productions of classic plays. In keeping with that tradition, many of the concerts will be free, but others will require paid admission. A complete schedule of performances follows:

Beginning on Friday, June 4, the general public can purchase reserved seating tickets for Joe’s Pub in the Park at the Public Theater box office, via the website www.publictheater.org, or by calling 212-239-6200. Tickets for the free shows will be doled out two per person on the day of each performance at the Delacorte Theater and at The Public Theater, starting at 1pm. All events are planned to be held rain or shine.

The Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival’s summer production of Much Ado About Nothing will begin performances at the Delacorte on June 22, with a cast led by Jimmy Smits, Kristen Johnston, Brian Murray, and Sam Waterston.
