Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast Composer Alan Menken to Be Honored by NY Pops

Menken will be celebrated at the Pops’s 35th birthday gala.

The New York Pops will honor composer Alan Menken at its 35th Birthday Gala, to be held Monday, April 30, at Carnegie Hall. Pops musical director Steven Reineke will conduct the gala.

Menken is currently represented on Broadway by A Bronx Tale — The Musical and Aladdin. The eight-time Oscar, 11-time Grammy, and Tony recipient is also the the composer behind The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Pocahontas, Newsies, Little Shop of Horrors, Leap of Faith, Sister Act, and more.

The list of performers, culled from the worlds of Broadway and Hollywood, is still to be announced.
