The Theatre @ Boston Court in Los Angeles launches its 13th annual New Play Reading Festival on July 17 with a preview of this year's offerings. Artistic directors Jessica Kubzansky and Michael Michetti, along with literary manager Emilie Beck, will host an informal, interactive conversation about the plays featured in the festival, as well as a look into the process of curating the event.

The festival schedule is as follows: Hitler's Tasters (July 22), written by Michelle Kholos Brooks and directed by Michael Michetti; Sweet Maladies (July 22), written by Zakiyyah Alexander and directed by Dominic Taylor; This Floating World (July 22), written by Tira Palmquist and directed by Beth Lopes; Cricket Woman Mother Earth (or) A Nasty Comeuppance (July 29), written by Tiffany Antone and directed by Emilie Beck; and Night Dust Journey (July 29), written by Mickey Birnbaum and directed by Jessica Kubzansky.

On July 24, Boston Court will also host a Playwright's Panel Discussion titled Writing the Unusual: Representing the Known World in Unfamiliar Ways. A panel of New Play Reading Festival playwrights will lead a discussion about the relationship between realism and performance in their own work, along with an additional audience Q&A.
