Hartt School’s Music Theatre to Present Pippin

Students from The Hartt School’s Music Theatre will perform in Pippin October 27-30, 2011 at Lincoln Center at the University of Hartford in Conneticut. Pippin marks the school’s first production of the season.

The musical utilizes the premise of an acting troupe, led by the Leading Player, to tell the story of Pippin, a young prince on a search for his purpose in life. Pippin features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Roger O. Hirson and direction by Hartt faculty member Ralph Perkins.

Students performing in Pippin include Jayce Johnson in the title role; Ravid Raposo as Lewis; Donny Gersonde as Leading Player; Kristen Tarczynski as Fastrada; and Lea Nardi as Catherine.

Performing as the Band of Players are Mike Baskowski, Scott Caron, Dakota Dutcher, Steven Grant, Nicholas Giulani, John Olsen, Alexandra Bartley, Alexandra Cutler, Kelsey Flynn, Keisha Gilles, Laura Helm, Sarah Kozlowski, Brianna LoBue, Katie Sarno, Hannah Spacone, Meredith Swanson, and Caitlin Wilayto of Pepperell MA.

The Hartt School is the comprehensive performing arts conservatory of the University of Hartford that offers pioneering degree programs in music, dance, and theatre. 2010 marked Hartt’s 90th year of providing ground-breaking performing arts education to students.
