Tony Award Winner Deanna Dunagan Set for Writer’s Theatre’s A Little Night Music

Tony Award winner Deanna Dunagan will play Madame Armfeldt in Writer’s Theatre’s production of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s A Little Night Music, to run May 1 – July 8. William Brown will direct the production, which will have musical direction by Roberta Duchak.

Based on Ingmar Bergman’s film Smiles of a Summer Night, the show centers on the romantic entanglements of a group of well-heeled Swedes at the turn of the last century.

The company will also feature Brianna Borger (Petra), Shannon Corey (Fredericka Arnfeldt), Shannon Cochran (Desiree Arnfeldt), Brandon Dahlquist (Count Malcolm), John Finley (Frid), Kristen French (Anne Egerman), Cory Goodrich (Malla), Royen Kent (Henrik Egerman), Tiffany Scott (Countess Malcolm), and Jonathan Weir (Fredrik Egerman).

The creative team will include Kevin Depinet (scenic design), Jesse Klug (lighting), Rachel Anne Healy (costume design), and Andrew Hansen (sound design).

Dunagan won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Play for August: Osage County. She has worked frequently in Chicago.
