Josh Charles and Kate Bornstein to Join Armie Hammer in Straight White Men

Josh Charles, Kate Bornstein, and Ty Defoe will make their Broadway debuts in the Broadway premiere of Straight White Men, directed by Anna D. Shapiro. They join Armie Hammer and Tom Skerritt in the cast. The Second Stage Theater production will begin previews at the Helen Hayes Theater on June 29, with opening night set for July 23.
In Straight White Men, "it's Christmas Eve, and Ed has gathered his three adult sons to celebrate with matching pajamas, trash-talking, and Chinese takeout. But when a question they can’t answer interrupts their holiday cheer, they are forced to confront their own identities."
With Hammer as Ed and Skerritt as Drew, the production will feature Charles as Jake, Bornstein as Person In Charge #1, and Defoe as Person In Charge #2. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
With Straight White Men, playwright Young Jean Lee will become the first Asian-American female playwright to be produced on Broadway. Anna D. Shapiro will make her Second Stage directorial debut with this production. The production will also mark Hammer's Broadway debut. Skerritt made his Broadway debut in the 2013 production of A Time to Kill.
The play will feature scenic design by Todd Rosenthal, costume design by Suttirat Larlarb, lighting design by Donald Holder, and sound design by M.L. Dogg.
