Emma Cohen, or Em for short, is a rising second year at the University of Virginia studying Foreign Affairs and Media Studies. Music is her passion. Emma has been playing clarinet for eight years, most intensively as a part of the Albemarle High School Wind Ensemble, where she was section leader her senior year, and currently for the UVA Concert Band. Her best musical experience was playing in the pit orchestra for her high school’s productions of Beauty and the Beast and The Phantom of the Opera. But she is by no means a stranger to the stage. Because her dad is the type to buy tickets to see the local production of My Fair Lady as opposed to a Virginia national championship lacrosse game, her love of theater knows no bounds. Emma’s favorite play is Chicago—perhaps because she aspires to be a lawyer someday. She is excited to be in New York this summer to blog about a variety of musical theater topics… and her crazy adventures in the city!
