Brian and Diane Sutherland to Star in Signature’s A Second Chance

Married couple Brian and Diane Sutherland will star in the world premiere musical, A Second Chance, to be presented by the Arlington-based Signature Theatre, November 15-December 11. Jonathan Butterell will direct.

Featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Ted Shen, this one-act lyrical duet explores the first year’s emotional journey between Dan and Jenna, who meet in mid-life, still trying to come to terms with their emotional pasts, while irresistibly drawn to finding a second chance at love and happiness.

The creative team will feature Zak Sandler (musical direction), Robert Brill (scenic design), Susan Hilferty (costume design), Jennifer Schriever (lighting design), and Bruce Coughlin (orchestrations).

Brian Sutherland’s Broadway credits include 1776, Victor/Victoria, Steel Pier, Cats, Dance a Little Closer, and A Change in the Heir, and he has previously appeared at Signature in And the Curtain Rises. Diane Sutherland has appeared on Broadway in Light in the Piazza, She Loves Me, 1776, Three Sisters, Cats, and A Chorus Line and was part of the Helen Hayes-nominated ensemble for Signature’s Sycamore Trees.
