Billy Crystal, Christopher Plummer, and Pete Townshend are among the celebrities who are featured in the New Ballinran documentary Des McAnuff: A Life in Stages, which will air on Bravo! on Sunday, February 7 at 8pm EST, as part of the “Great Canadian Biographies Series.”

The hour-long program pays tribute to McAnuff, who won Tonys for his direction of Big River and The Who’s Tommy. He is currently represented on Broadway by the Tony winning Best Musical Jersey Boys and is the artistic director at Canada’s Stratford Shakespeare Festival.

Documentary filmmakers Craig Thompson (producer) and Michael Savoie (director) spent almost a year following McAnuff on a whirlwind schedule around the world that included the opening of Jersey Boys in Melbourne, Australia, directing two plays and overseeing the 2009 season at the Stratford Festival, and working on new projects in the U.K. and on Broadway. The film also explores McAnuff’s personal life, his skills as a songwriter, and early influences on his career.
