Florida Studio Theatre to Present 21st Annual Sarasota Festival of New Plays

Florida Studio Theatre will present the 21st annual Sarasota Festival of New Plays, a two-month festival beginning March 30.

The festival will include the world premiere of the new play Jericho (April 4-June 2) by Jack Canfora, which is set in and around Manhattan post 9/11. FST will present Reel Music (March 28- June 17), its music revue chronicling the great music of the movies. On May 11 at 2pm, Robert Pinsky will bring his The Favorite Poem Project to the theater. This project invites members of the Sarasota community will read aloud their favorite poems.

In conjunction with The Young Playwrights Festival, the Sarasota Festival of New Plays will present Under Six (March 20-May 12), a world premiere production of an anthology of plays written by children in grades Kindergarten-6. The festival will close with the Richard and Betty Burdick Play Reading Series (May 7,14, and 21), which will present three new works by contemporary, American playwrights.
