South Pathetic, written and performed by Jim David, will have its San Francisco premiere at the New Conservatory Theatre Center. Performances run August 5-23.
David’s play chronicles the misadventures of a man directing A Streetcar Named Desire at a community theater in his Southern hometown. In the piece, David not only plays himself, but the dozen or so eccentric town folk involved in mounting a production of the Tennessee Williams classic.
On Broadway, David was seen in The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public. In addition, he has appeared on numerous television comedy shows, most notably his special, Comedy Central Presents Jim David, and a two-year stint on Comedy Central’s Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn. Other television appearances include Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, The View, Caroline’s Comedy Hour and An Evening at the Improv.
