(© Joseph Marzullo/WENN) | Oscar winners and stage veterans Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman will star alongside Bruce Willis in the movie thriller Red, according to Variety. Robert Schwentke will direct the film, which has a script by brothers Erich Hoeber and Jon Hoeber.
The film is based on the WildStorm/DC three book comic series, which follows a former CIA agent who lives a quiet life in retirement until the day a high-tech assassin shows up intent on killing him.
Mirren was most recently on stage in Phedre. She won the Academy Award for The Queen and will be seen later this year in The Last Station. Freeman most recently appeared on Broadway in The Country Girl. He won the Academy Award for Million Dollar Baby and will be seen later this year in Invictus.
