(© Carol Rosegg) | The selections for Best Plays of 2007-2008, which will be published in 2009 by Limelight Editions, have been announced. The 10 works, selected by editor Jeffrey Alan Jenkins and his editorial board, all played in New York between June 1, 2007 and May 31, 2008. An essay accompanies each selection.
This year's plays and musicals include Jason Loewith and Joshua Schmidt's Adding Machine; Tracy Letts' August: Osage County; Aaron Sorkin's The Farnsworth Invention; Horton Foote's Dividing the Estate; Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice; Kate Fodor's 100 Saints You Should Know; Adam Bock's The Receptionist; Tom Stoppard's Rock 'n' Roll; Conor McPherson's The Seafarer; and David Henry Hwang's Yellow Face.
Edward Albee's Peter and Jerry received a special citation, and the volume also includes this year's winners of the American Theatre Critics Association's awards and citations: Moises Kaufman's 33 Variations; Deborah Zoe Laufer's End Days; and Ruhl's Dead Man's Cellphone.
