Emmy Award nominee Gregory Itzin will play the title role in South Coast Repertory's world premiere production of Donald Margulies' Shipwrecked! An Entertainment -- The Amazing Adventures of Louis De Rougemont (As Told By Himself), to play September 23-October 14 on the Julianne Argyros Stage. The production, which will be directed by Bart DeLorenzo, will open officially on September 28.

A dog, a giant octopus, a pickpocket, a crusty old sea captain and a librarian are just a few of the characters in Margulies' whimsical new play about a man lost at sea who embarks on an awe-inspiring, 30-year adventure. Margulies' other plays include Dinner With Friends, Collected Stories, Sight Unseen, and Brooklyn Boy.

Melody Buitu and Michael Daniel Cassady will play all the other roles. The creative team includes Keith Mitchell (sets), Candice Cain (costumes), Rand Ryan (lighting), Steven Cahill (sound/music composition), and Christine Marie (puppet design).

Itzin received an Emmy nomination for his role as President Charles Logan on 24. He received a Tony Award nomination for The Kentucky Cycle and his other stage credits include Waiting for Godot, The Birthday Party, Endgame, and Dangerous Corner.
