Lynn Redgrave and Boyd Gaines will headline this year's Broadway Blessing at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, September 8.

Broadway Blessing, a program conceived and directed by Retta Blaney, is a service of song, story, and dance that brings the theater community together every September since 1997 to bless the new theater season.

In addition to live performances from Redgrave and Gaines, Adam Jacobs will sing a selection from the new musical Amazing Grace: The True Story, and opera singer Jerry Curry will sing a piece from The Student Prince. The evening will also feature a number of dance performances from Project Dance and the New York-based troupe, The Essentials. The Broadway Blessing Choir, under the direction of Cathedral organist Timothy Brumfield, will sing show tunes and lead the audience in a sing-along at the end of the service.

Redgrave received Tony Award nominations for her work in The Constant Wife, Shakespeare for My Father, and Mrs. Warren's Profession. Gaines won Tony Awards for The Heidi Chronicles, She Loves Me, Contact, and the current revival of Gypsy, in which he co-stars with Patti LuPone.
