Neil Patrick Harris to Host Academy of Magical Arts’ 42nd Annual Awards Show

Neil Patrick Harris will host The Academy of Magical Arts’ 42nd Annual Awards Show, to be held on April 11 at Avalon Hollywood. The awards recognize excellence in the art of mystery and illusion.

The ceremony will include performances by magicians from all over the world, including Yo Kato, Ed Alonzo, John Calvert, Andrew Goldenhersh, Armando Lucero, Jeff Hobson, and The Great Tomsoni & Co. Additional performers will be announced at a later date.

In addition to the ceremony and performance, the evening will include a pre-show cocktail reception as well as an after party.

Harris has starred in Rent, Assassins, and Sweeney Todd on stage. He currently plays Barney Stinson on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, and starred in the title role of Doogie Howser, M.D. Harris also hosted the 63rd Tony Awards and the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards. As previously reported on TheaterMania, he will appear later this year on FOX’s Glee and will star in the forthcoming Smurfs movie.
