Four-time Emmy Award winner Michael Learned will join the previously announced Cathy Rigby in La Mirada Theatre's production of Robert Harling's Steel Magnolias, October 2-18. Brian Kite will direct.

Set in a beauty parlor in Chinquapin, Louisiana, Steel Magnolias illustrates how the lives of six distinctly different women interweave via the small town gossip that shadows the unending cycle of birth, marriage, and death.

The cast will also include Emma Fassler, Christa Jackson, Rosina Reynolds, and Amy Sloan. The design team will feature John Iacovelli (set), Craig Pierce (lighting), Julie Keen (costumes), and Josh Bessom (sound).

As previously announced, the season will also include Ron Hutchinson's Moonlight and Magnolias (November 6-22), directed by Andy Barnicle; The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (February 5-21), with direction by Jeff Maynard; the Alan James-Rob Bettinson musical, Buddy - The Buddy Holly Story (April 16-May 2); Donald Margulies' Dinner with Friends (June 4-20); and Let's Salute America! (May 15).
