José Carrasquillo will play Don Quijote with Gerald Montoya as Sancho Panza in GALita’s world premiere of Las aventuras de Don Quijote de La Mancha, October 31-November 10. Hugo Medrano will direct.

Commissioned by GALA, the work is based on Don Quijote de La Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. This world premiere by Patricia Suárez with bilingual adaptation by Cornelia Cody follows the misadventures of the gentleman from La Mancha and his loyal squire Sancho Panza. Obsessed with chivalrous ideals, Don Quijote takes up his lance and sword to set wrongs to right, defend the helpless, and destroy the wicked throughout the Spanish countryside as he battles windmills and is ensnared in other episodes of mistaken identities.

The production will feature set design by Elizabeth Jenkins McFadden, light design by Andrew Scharwath, costume design by Dan Iwaniec, sound design by Brendon Vierra, and properties by Alicia Tessari Neiman. Andrés Holder is Musical Director and Production Manager. Andrés Luque is Technical Director.
