This miniaturized replica of an Elizabethan theater – roughly one-third the size of the Globe Theatre in London – was built by Austin’s own computer-gaming legend Richard Garriott for his friends to present period-accurate productions of medieval and Renaissance-era drama. Seating 300 in two levels and one groundling level, this venue on the shores of Lake Austin is surprisingly intimate – no audience member is ever more than 25 feet from the action onstage. Currently home to The Baron’s Men theatre company and also used regularly by Austin Shakespeare.
