Full Cast set for Pig Iron’s Awesome Fiesta

Full casting has been announced for Pig Iron Theatre Company’s world premiere of a cabaret piece entitled Come to My Awesome Fiesta, It’s Going to Be Awesome, Okay? at The Church of St. John the Evangelist in South Philadelphia, May 9-10. Directed by Alex Torra, the environmental performance piece will mark Torra’s Pig Iron directing debut.

This cabaret is a deconstruction and reconstruction of coming-of-age ceremonies, which will follow a Quinceañera, or Fiesta de Quince Años, from the pale pink gown with a puffy tulle and lace skirt, to the tiara and silver heels that usher in womanhood. Some of the inspiration for the piece came from Torra’s own experiences as a Cuban-American teenager growing up in Miami.

The cast will include Sarah Sanford, Hinako Arao, Charlotte Ford, Corinna Burns, Felipe Vergara, Catalina Medina, and Ben Camp.
