Anthony Heald to Star in Oregon Shakespeare’s La Cage Aux Folles Benefit Reading

Two-time Tony nominee Anthony Heald will star as Albin/Zaza in Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s benefit play reading of La Cage Aux Folles, to be held in the Angus Bowmer Theatre on Monday, August 22 at 3pm.

The cast will also feature David Kelly as Georges, Mandie Jenson as Anne Dindon, Miriam A. Laube as Jacqueline and Francis, Christopher Livingston as Jean-Michel, Daniel T. Parker as Jacob, Brad Whitmore as Edouard Dindon and M. Renaud and Susan Whitmore as Marie Dindon and Mme. Renaud. The Cagelles will be played by Darcy Danielson (Angelique), Ted Deasy (Mercedes), Al Espinosa (Hannah), Miles Fletcher (Derma), Blaine Johnston (Babette), Brian Demar Jones (Nicole), Tim Homsley (Bitelle), Kimbre Lancaster (Chantal), Alonzo Lee Moore IV (Phaedra), and Tiffany Rachelle Stewart (Paulette).

The reading is part of OSF’s 24th annual Daedalus Project, a benefit for AIDS/HIV organizations, which will also include an evening variety show in the Elizabethan Stage/Allen Pavilion at 7:30pm.

Emceed by Ray Porter, the variety show line-up will include musician and writer Oded Gross, actors John Tufts and Christopher Liam Moore in a sketch written by Tufts, the local dance company Dancing People, which features OSF actor and choreographer Alonzo Lee Moore IV, and Miriam A. Laube and Sarah Jane Nelson, who will perform a song from Wicked. The finale of Act One is the ever-popular Underwear Parade. Audience members vote with their dollars for their favorite underwear contestants during intermission.

This season’s Daedalus Project is produced by Claudia Alick and directed by Terri McMahon and David Kelly.
