Colt Coeur has announced that two-time Tony Award nominee Johanna Day (Sweat, Proof) will play the title role in the world premiere of Stephen Belber's Joan, running January 19, 2019-February 16, 2019, at HERE Arts Center, with opening night set for Sunday, January 27.

Adam Harrington (How to Live on Earth) and Marjan Neshat (Quantico) will also star in the production, directed by Colt Coeur's founding artistic director, Adrienne Campbell-Holt. The creative team will include Andrew Moerdyk (scenic design), Emily Rebholz (costume design), Grant Yeager (lighting design), Amy Altadonna (sound design), and Emma Johnson (production management and technical direction). Casting is by Anne Davison, and Caroline Sarkozi serves as the assistant director.

Belber's play is described as follows: "There are times in our lives — likely far too many — when who we are and who we want to be don't necessarily align. Joan is restless but gracious; she's loving, but she's a jerk. A daughter, sister, lover, mother, artist, and citizen, Joan is a flawed and wandering soul seeking the authentic in a world that gravitates the other way. She lives, and then she dies. Joan is the story of her life."
