The Broadway musical begins performances in October at the Antonio Paoli Festival Hall of the Centro de Bellas Artes in Santurce.

Buena Vista Social Club, the hit musical based on the bestselling album and currently playing Broadway’s Schoenfeld Theatre, will receive its Puerto Rican debut. Performances begin October 23 at the Antonio Paoli Festival Hall of the Centro de Bellas Artes in Santurce, as part of the fall Broadway season in San Juan.
The Broadway production has granted a license by special agreement for producer Ender Vega and BAS Entertainment to produce the Puerto Rican premiere.
“As the first production on the archipelago to be granted an independent performance license while the original production is still running on Broadway, Buena Vista Social Club is breaking new ground,” said producers Luis A. Miranda, Jr. and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
Buena Vista Social Club is the winner of 5 Tony Awards. It uses the music of the 1997 Grammy Award-winning album to tell a story set against the political turmoil of Cuba in the 20th century. TheaterMania’s review remarked, “The music is so good, the performances so alive, and the band so sexy.”
The show kicks off its North American tour at Shea’s Buffalo Theatre on September 12. Click here for a complete list of tour stops.
