Zach Braff will host the Huntington Theatre Company’s 2011 Spotlight Spectacular! to be held on Monday, May 9 at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. The event will raise money for the company’s ongoing work.
Along with an entertainment program, the evening will honor playwright Lydia R. Diamond and Bill McQuillan, former president of the theater’s board of trustees. Additional details about the program and casting will be announced shortly.
Braff received both WGA and Independent Spirit Award nominations for his screenplay for the feature film Garden State. His stage credits, as a performer, include Paul Weitz’s Trust at Second Stage and Twelfth Night and Macbeth for the Public Theater. He may be best known for his portrayal of Dr. John “J.D.” O’Brien on television’s Scrubs. As previously reported, Braff’s new play, All New People, will perform at Second Stage this summer.
