New York City
Tomorrow, tomorrow – I’ll be a star tomorrow!
Everybody’s favorite curly-haired orphan is coming back to NYC this holiday season! After two Broadway revivals and several national tours in the US, many famed performers got their start in Annie, which leaves us excited for the upcoming casting joining Whoopi Goldberg.
Before Sarah Jessica Parker was the iconic Carrie Bradshaw, she was living the Hard-Knock life, and Sadie Sink was running up Easy Street before she was running up that hill.
Meanwhile, Taylor Louderman learned Regina George’s villainous ways from Miss Hannigan, and while she never played Annie herself, Sutton Foster predicted her own future taking on the role of “Star To Be” in the Broadway production.
McArdle originated the role on Broadway and jetted over to open the show in the West End! She later enjoyed celebrated roles on stage including Belle, Fantine, Eva Peron, Sally Bowles, and another Annie – Annie Oakley. She then returned to the show as Miss Hannigan.
Perhaps best known for her iconic role of Carrie Bradshaw, SJP got her start on Broadway as Annie and was last seen on Broadway opposite her husband, Matthew Broderick, in Plaza Suite.
Quinn was an understudy in the original Broadway company but was later cast to lead the first film in 1982, alongside an all-star cast including Tim Curry, Bernadette Peters and Ann Reinking.
Sink appeared in the second Broadway revival of Annie before breaking out in her role as Max in Stranger Things. She also starred in Taylor Swift’s All Too Well short film, and psychological drama, The Whale.
Now one of Broadway’s biggest names, Foster played “Star To Be” in the 1997 revival of Annie. And she was indeed. Since, she has starred in Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Women, Shrek, Anything Goes, The Music Man and Sweeney Todd. You can see her right now in Once Upon a Mattress.
One of Louderman’s earliest roles was in a regional production of Annie, before leading a touring production of Bring It On! that landed on Broadway. She later returned to the Great White Way in Kinky Boots before originating the role of Regina George in Mean Girls the Musical.
Crawford appeared in the 2012 Broadway revival after making her debut in Billy Elliot. Since then, she has starred in the Into The Woods musical movie.
