Vassily Sigarev’s Black Milk to Make New York City Debut

Vassily Sigarev’s Black Milk will make its New York premiere in a translation by Sasha Dugdale, running July 19-August 4 at the East 13th Street Theatre (home of Classic Stage Company).

Michel Hausmann directs the work, which explores what happens when a young couple consisting of a small-time crook and his heavily pregnant wife are taught a lesson by the strange, cruel world of their Russian homeland. The cast includes Liba Vaynberg, Josh Marcantel, Anna Foss Wilson, John Bambery and Emily Ward.

The design team features Ika Avaliani (scenic design), Liene Dobraja (costume design), and Yuki Nakase (lighting design).

Sigarev’s plays have been seen around the world, in countries including England, Ireland, Australia, Denmark, Greece, and the Czech Republic.
