Martin takes on the role of Berthe, for which she won a 2013 Tony.
The Broadway revival of Pippin has announced that Andrea Martin, who won 2013 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for creating the role of Berthe in the production, will return to the role beginning September 2. Martin is scheduled to return for 24 performances through September 21. Tony winner Priscilla Lopez, who stepped into the role of Berthe on July 22, will remain in the cast through August 27.
Helmed by Tony winner Diane Paulus, the revival of Stephen Schwartz and Roger O. Hirson's classic coming-of-age musical features the death-defying tricks of a contemporary circus with choreography by Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse, and features circus creations by Gypsy Snider of the circus troupe Les 7 doigts de la main.
Andrea Martin can currently be seen in the new NBC comedy series Working the Engels. Her most recent Broadway role was in Lincoln Center Theater's production of Act One.
The current cast of Pippin features Kyle Dean Massey as Pippin, Ciara Renée as Leading Player, Tony winner John Rubinstein as Charles, Tony nominee Charlotte d'Amboise as Fastrada, and Rachel Bay Jones as Catherine.
