The new musical, based on the ”Percy Jackson and the Olympians” book series, will receive a one-night-only performance at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
Theatreworks USA will present a one-night-only benefit performance of The Lightning Thief, a new musical based on the first installment of Rick Rorian's best-selling book series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Featuring a book by Joe Tracz and music and lyrics by Rob Rokicki, the musical will be presented at off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre on Monday, April 21.
The cast includes stage, television, and film notables including Bryan Batt (Mad Men, 12 Years a Slave), Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper (Caroline, or Change), three-time Tony nominee Terrence Mann (Pippin) and his wife, two-time Tony nominee Charlotte d'Amboise (Pippin), Kate Flannery (The Office), Tony nominee Richard Kind (The Big Knife), Tony nominee John Tartaglia(Avenue Q), three-time Tony nominee Judy Kuhn (Les Misérables), and Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis (Jekyll and Hyde).
The concert will also include performances by Parker Drown, Abe Goldfarb, Eric Meyers, Sarah Beth Pfeifer, Kristin Stokes, and Jordan Stanley.
Directed by Stephen Brackett with choreography by Sam Pinkleton, the story follows a 12-year-old boy who journeys into a world of mythological monsters and Greek gods. While struggling with various learning disabilities and an absent father, he ventures to solve the mystery of Zeus' stolen lightning bolt.
