David Tennant and Toni Collette will join Anton Yelchin and Colin Farrell in a remake of the 1985 cult film Fright Night, according to the Hollywood Reporter‘s Heat Vision blog. Craig Gillespie will direct the movie.
The movie focuses on a teen (Yelchin), who believes that his new neighbor (Farrell) is a vampire. Collette will play the teenager’s mother and Tennant will play a Las Vegas magician who claims to be a vampire expert. The cast will also feature Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
Tennant, who is best known for his portrayal of Doctor Who, recently played Hamlet in the West End. Collette may be best known for her portrayal of the title character on the Showtime series The United States of Tara. She received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in The Sixth Sense. Among her other film and television credits are Emma, The Hours, 8 1/2 Women, About a Boy and Diana & Me. In addition to her screen work, she starred in Michael John LaChiusa’s The Wild Party on Broadway, earning a Tony Award nomination for her performance as Queenie.
