Roundabout Theatre Company's new revival of the musical The Robber Bridegroom celebrated its opening night at the Laura Pels Theatre on March 13.
Based on the short story by Eudora Welty, The Robber Bridegroom takes place at the Natchez Trace in Mississippi. It follows Jamie Lockhart, fair-faced gentleman by day, hardhearted bandit of the woods by night, as his world is turned upside down after he falls for the beautiful daughter of a wealthy planter.
The Robber Bridegroom features a score by Robert Waldman and a book and lyrics by Alfred Uhry. The production is directed by Alex Timbers and choreographed by Connor Gallagher.
Leading the company are Steven Pasquale (The Bridges of Madison County) as Jamie Lockhart, Ahna O'Reilly (The Help) as Rosamund, Leslie Kritzer (Gigantic) as Salome, Greg Hildreth (Peter and the Starcatcher) as Goat, Andrew Durand (Gigantic) as Little Harp, Evan Harrington (Avenue Q) as Big Harp, Lance Roberts (Shows for Days) as Clement Musgrove, Nadia Quinn (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as Raven/Goat's Mother, and Devere Rogers (Five Guys Named Moe) as Airie/Man.
The production features musical direction by Justin Levine, scenic design by Donyale Werle, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Jake DeGroot and Jeff Croiter, sound design by Darron L. West and Charles Coes, wig and make-up design by Leah J. Loukas, and orchestrations by Justin Levine and Martin Lowe.
