Stephen Karam's The Humans Announces Casting Changes
Complete casting has been announced for the off-Broadway premiere of Pulitzer Prize finalist Stephen Karam’s The Humans, directed by Tony Award winner Joe Mantello.
As previously announced, Tony nominee Reed Birney (Casa Valentina) will lead the cast as Erik, who has broken with tradition and brought his Pennsylvania family to celebrate Thanksgiving at his daughter's apartment in lower Manhattan. As darkness falls, family tensions reach a peak and the heart and horrors of their family are exposed.
Cassie Beck (By the Water), Jayne Houdyshell (Fish in the Dark), and Sarah Steele (The Country House) remain with the company in the roles of Aimee, Deirdre, and Brigid, respectively, while Lauren Klein (Other Desert Cities) and Arian Moayed (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo) join in the roles of Fiona "Momo" Blake and Richard, replacing the previously announced Greg Keller and Joyce Van Patten.
The creative team features David Zinn (sets), Sarah Laux (costumes), Justin Townsend (lighting), and Fitz Patton (sound).
Performances begin September 30 at Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre in advance of an October 25 opening. The limited engagement will run through December 27.
