Deaf West Theatre’s Spring Awakening, currently running on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, scored big at the 2015 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards, presented Monday, November 19, at the Ahmanson Theatre.

The production took home six honors, in the categories of Best Director (Michael Arden), Best Choreography (Spencer Liff), Best Ensemble, and Best Lighting Design (Ben Stanton), as well as two Best Production of a Musical trophies for its runs at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and the more intimate Deaf West Theatre.

Additional winners include stage and screen favorites Jimmi Simpson (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) and Laurie Metcalf (Misery) for their performances in Trevor, and the new drama Luna Gale, which took home the title for Best Presented Play.

Ovation Honors, which recognize outstanding achievement in areas that are not among the standard list of nomination categories, have been awarded to Mat Sweeney and Ellen Warkentine (Music Composition for a Play, The Temptation of St. Antony at Four Larks), Mike Mahaffey (Fight Choreography, She Kills Monsters at Loft Ensemble), and Ted Blegen (Puppet Design, She Kills Monsters at Loft Ensemble).
