Sara Bareilles and Gavin Creel to Costar in Broadway's Waitress

The producers of Waitress announced this morning that the show's Tony-nominated composer Sara Bareilles will reprise her performances as Jenna on Broadway alongside Tony Award winner Gavin Creel, who will join the cast as Dr. Pomatter. The pair will perform a limited engagement January 7, 2019-February 3, 2019.

"It's Waitress's THIRD anniversary on Broadway!!!" said Bareilles in a statement. "To celebrate, I'm putting on the apron once again alongside one of my besties!! We are launching this celebratory anniversary year with a limited engagement return to the diner with one of my dearest friends, Tony winner Gavin Creel as Dr. Pomatter!!! We have THREE productions of Waitress running (Welcome London!!) and this is my THIRD time in my beloved Jenna's shoes. I can't think of anything I would rather do to kick off this incredible milestone year than return to my favorite place on earth next to the one and only Gavin Creel. Come see us and celebrate Waitress turning 3!!"

Creel earned a 2017 Tony Award for his performance as Cornelius Hackl in the recent Broadway revival of Hello, Dolly!, starring Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce. His other Broadway credits include She Loves Me, The Book of Mormon, Hair (Tony nomination), La Cage aux Folles, and Thoroughly Modern Millie (Tony nomination).

Waitress opened at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on April 24, 2016, earning Tony nominations for Best Musical and Best Original Score. Inspired by Adrienne Shelly's 2007 motion picture, Waitress features music and lyrics by Bareilles, a book by Jessie Nelson, and direction by Diane Paulus.

The production currently stars Nicolette Robinson, Charity Angel Dawson, Lenne Klingaman, Drew Gehling, Ben Thompson, Al Roker, Benny Elledge, Alex Wyse, Mariam Bedigian,Tyrone Davis, Jr., Law Terrell Dunford, Andrew Fitch, London Skye Gilliam, Molly Hager, Tiffany Denise Hobbs, Jessie Hooker-Bailey, Molly Jobe, Brandon Kalm, Anastacia McCleskey, Stephanie Torns, and Dan Tracy.
