Robyn Hurder to Replace Ryoko Yonekura as Roxie Hart in Chicago

Broadway veteran Robyn Hurder (Nice Work If You Can Get It) will take on the role of Roxie Hart in Broadway's Chicago from July 14-18 at the Ambassador Theatre, replacing Japanese superstar Ryoko Yonekura. Yonekura completes her run in the role on July 13, before going on to join the U.S. national touring company in Tokyo from August 2-13. Tony Award nominee Charlotte d’Amboise is set to return to the role on July 20.
In addition, NaTasha Yvette Williams will return as Matron "Mama" Morton on July 17, with LaVon Fisher-Wilson playing her final performance in the role on July 16. Chicago also currently stars Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Tony Award nominee Tom Hewitt as Billy Flynn, Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. Recipient of six 1997 Tony Awards, the revival is directed by Walter Bobbie.
