Greif was the honoree at New York Theatre Workshop’s annual gala.
New York Theatre Workshop honored Tony nominated director Michael Greif at its annual gala, held May 15 at the Edison Hotel. The evening, which celebrated the organization's partnership with Dartmouth College, was hosted by Rachel Dratch and Jesse Tyler Ferguson.
Greif is represented on Broadway with Dear Evan Hansen and War Paint. He directed the original productions of Rent, Grey Gardens, Next to Normal, and If/Then. Other recent productions include Our Lady of Kibeho, Angels in America, and The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism With a Key to the Scriptures.
The NYTW annual spring gala raises nearly 10 percent of the off-Broadway company’s annual budget. Funds raised at this one-night only event help NYTW to mount four world-class productions each season and share them with more than 40,000 audience members. Proceeds also support NYTW’s Artist Workshop activities, through which nearly 2,000 artists develop more than 80 projects each year and their Education Initiatives including Learning Workshop, Mind the Gap, and Public Programs that serve over 1,600 students of all ages.
