Pretty Woman Musical May Hit Broadway in 2018-19 Season

The long-anticipated musical adaptation of the 1990 film Pretty Woman is now hoping for a Broadway bow during the 2018-19 season according to an Entertainment Weekly interview with Jerry Mitchell, the show's director.

As previously announced, the adaptation will feature a book written by the film's writer J.F. Lawton and late director Garry Marshall, with a score by Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance. Like the movie, the musical version of Pretty Woman will the blossoming romance between a prostitute, Vivian (played in the film by Julia Roberts) and a wealthy businessman Edward (originally played by Richard Gere).

According to Mitchell's interview with Entertainment Weekly, the new show's score will be largely "rock-driven" and the book will feature a more developed back story for Edward in addition to other updates.

No casting has been announced so far.
