Working with Robert Fisher, Marx, son of Groucho Marx, wrote the book for the Broadway musical Minnie’s Boys, which chronicled his father’s and uncles’ rise to fame as The Marx Brothers.
In addition, he wrote the play The Impossible Years, which ran for 670 performances at the Playhouse Theatre on Broadway, and Groucho: A Life in Revue, which was seen Off-Broadway in 1986.
Marx and Fisher also collaborated on such films as Eight on the Lam, A Global Affair, I’ll Take Sweden, and Cancel My Reservation. They also wrote for such sitcoms as All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Maude, and Alice.
Marx’s work also includes such books about his famed father as Life With Groucho, and Son of Groucho.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a stepdaughter, two sisters, four grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.
