Transport Group has announced the performers for the one-night-only concert Liza! at 80: A Celebration in Song and Dance, celebrating the legendary performer Liza Minnelli’s 80th birthday. The concert will be held on Thursday, June 25, at Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage, Carnegie Hall.
The cast will include two-time Tony nominee Kate Baldwin, Lauren Blackman, Tony nominee Mario Cantone, Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth, Nikki Renée Daniels, Dez Deron, Claybourne Elder, Andrew Barth Feldman, two-time Tony winner Katie Finneran, Tony nominee Robyn Hurder, Tony winner Beth Leavel, Tony winner Bonnie Milligan, two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy, Tony winner Lauren Patten, two-time Tony nominee Andrew Rannells, Grammy nominee Helen J. Shen, Tony nominee Elizabeth Stanley, Alysha Umphress, Olivier Award nominee Marisha Wallace, and Natalie Weiss.
Guest speakers will include five-time Emmy winner and Academy Award nominee Candice Bergen, Jim Caruso, two-time Emmy winner Kathy Griffin, special Tony Award recipient Julie Halston, Isaac Mizrahi, and five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman.
Directed by Transport Group Artistic Director Jack Cummings III, the tribute concert honors Liza Minnelli’s 60-year career and includes musical selections spanning her body of work, focusing on her collaborations with John Kander and Fred Ebb, including Cabaret, The Rink, Liza With a “Z”, and New York, New York.
Liza! at 80 also celebrates the March publication of Minnelli’s memoir, Kids, Wait Till You Hear This!, and the evening’s attendees will receive a copy of the book.
The concert features a 30-piece orchestra. Musical direction is by Joey Chancey, with original arrangements by Chancey and orchestrations by Adam Jones. Bob Fosse’s original choreography is reconstructed by the Verdon Fosse Legacy, with additional choreography by Nancy Renée Braun and Alex Sanchez. The script for the concert is by Liza Minnelli, created with creative producer Hannah Oren.
