The Independent Collective held a special fundraising event to open the film Tiny Dancer up to investments at a private residence in New York City on Monday, June 4. Today Show correspondent Bobbie Thomas served as host.
The film is about a legendary dancer Lauren Drake (played by Martha Graham Dance Company principal dancer Katherine Crockett), who has just become a mother and is struggling to balance her drive for perfection on her journey to dance again. The film co-stars Daphne Rubin-Vega, who is currently playing Stella in the Broadway revival of A Streetcar Named Desire. The film is written and directed by Jayce Bartok and produced by Tiffany Bartok.
Attendees included musical guests Ryan Hobler and Susan Justice; actors Khrystyne Haje, Katy Wright-Mead, and Miriam Shor; and authors Nicola Kraus and Emma McLaughlin.
