Cast members from the Broadway production of Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark performed songs from the musical at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Thursday, August 23, as part of American Airlines’ JFK Concert Series. American Airlines was recently named the official airline of the production, which runs at the Foxwoods Theatre. There will be two additional concert performances, both on Friday, September 7.
Cast members Matt Wilkas, Elizabeth Judd, Jodi McFadden, and Kristen Oei performed at the American Airlines terminal, and costumed Spider-Men got the chance to check out the cockpit of an airliner.
Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark is inspired by over 40 years of Marvel comic books. It follows the story of teenager Peter Parker, whose unremarkable life is turned upside-down when he’s bitten by a genetically altered spider and must learn that with great powers comes great responsibility.
The show features music and lyrics by Bono and The Edge, direction by Philip William McKinley, original direction by Julie Taymor, and a book co-written by Taymor, Glen Berger, and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
