Norbert Leo Butz, Amber Iman, and More Announced for Broadway Cast of Hadestown

The producers of Hadestown have announced a new slate of principal performers for the musical, now in its 8th year at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theatre.

Beginning September 1, Yellowjackets star Jasmin Savoy Brown will play Eurydice, two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz will play Hermes, Tony Award nominee Amber Iman will play Persephone, pop-rock musician and songwriter Kayko will play Orpheus, and Disney XD actor Geno Segers as will play Hades.

Those roles are currently played on Broadway by Jordan Tyson (Eurydice), J. Harrison Ghee (Hermes), Gaby Moreno (Persephone), John-Michael Lyles (Orpheus), and Gary Dourdan (Hades). All will play their final performances August 30.

Butz, a Tony winner for Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Catch Me If You Can, last appeared on Broadway in the revival of My Fair Lady. Iman last appeared on Broadway in Lempicka and recently appeared in the title role of the off-Broadway musical Goddess. Brown, Segers, and Kayko are all making their Broadway debuts.

With a Tony-winning score by Anaïs Mitchell and Tony-winning direction by Rachel Chavkin, Hadestown resets the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice in a soot-blackened underworld ruled over by a cruel industrialist named Hades.

The musical won the 2019 Tony Award for Best Musical. A film capture of the original cast performing in London is currently screening in cinemas and recently surpassed Hamilton to have the biggest opening weekend at the box office for a pro shot of a live theatrical production. The new principal company members will join Kelly Belarmino, KC Dela Cruz, and Khori Michelle Petinaud as the Fates; and the chorus of Workers played by Emily Afton, Malcolm Armwood, Jeffrey Cornelius, Sydney Parra, and Alex Puette, with swings Brandon Cameron, Tara Jackson, Max Kumangai, and Alex Lugo.
