Next Theatre Company has announced that it will replace its world premiere adaptation of Karel Capek’s War With the Newts with Christopher Shinn’s play, Dying City, to run February 5-March 8 at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, with an opening on February 9. The theater plans to present Newts in its 2009-2010 season, citing “financial constraints” as the cause for the postponement.
Dying City, to be directed by Jason Loewith, is about a widow whose husband died in Iraq, and her husband’s identical twin brother who arrives on her doorstep looking for a confidant and a companion in grief.
