New York, New York, Some Like It Hot Lead 2023 Outer Critics Circle Award Nominations

Nominees for the 2023 Outer Critics Circle Awards have been announced. Leading the way this year with 12 nominations is the new Broadway musical New York, New York, followed closely by Some Like It Hot with 10 nods. The Playwrights Horizons production of Bruce Norris’s Downstate tied with Tom Stoppard’s Broadway drama Leopoldstadt for the most play nominations, with six each.

For the first time this year, the Outer Critics Circle combined Best Actor and Best Actress categories into gender neutral Best Performance groupings, separately honoring Broadway and off-Broadway cast members. Check out the complete list of nominees below:

This is the first year that the Outer Critics Circle is using gender neutral acting categories. Only new elements of Cost of Living, Kimberly Akimbo, Ain’t No Mo’, Between Riverside and Crazy, and Kinky Boots were considered.
