Miche Braden will star in Angelo Parra’s The Devil’s Music: The Life and Blues of Bessie Smith, to be presented at George Street Playhouse, March 3-29, 2009. Joe Brancato will direct.

The piece is set on the eve of Smith’s fatal car accident, and has the legendary “Empress of the Blues” regaling her audience with tales from her life and her many loves – both male and female – and losses.

Braden has performed in numerous previous productions of the play, and is also the show’s musical director and arranger. Additional acting credits include Lady Day at Emerson’s Bar and Grill, Hot Snow, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, Mahalia: A Gospel Musical, and Hats:The Red Hat Society Musical.
