Logan Vaughn directs the MCC Theater production off-Broadway.
McKinley Belcher III and Mandi Masden met the press to preview MCC Theater's upcoming production of The Light, written by Loy A. Webb. Logan Vaughn will direct.
The Light will inaugurate MCC's new, permanent home on West 52nd Street. Performances begin January 23 at the Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater at the Robert W. Wilson MCC Theater Space, with opening night set for February 10. The production will have scenic design by Kimie Nishikawa, costume design by Emilio Sosa, lighting design by Ben Stanton, and sound design by Elisheba Ittoop.
Webb's play introduces us to Rashad and Genesis on what should be one of the happiest days of their lives, but their joy quickly unravels when ground-shifting accusations from the past resurface. The work was originally developed at the New Colony in Chicago, which presented the world premiere at the Den Theatre in January 2018.
