Christopher Gattelli directs the queer, gender-swapped edition of the classic musical.

Full casting has been announced for the Broadway premiere of Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt’s The Fantasticks, a Second Stage production at the Helen Hayes Theatre.
This new version of the beloved musical revises the story to focus on two young men who fall in love, and the mothers who push them toward each other. Leading the cast are Nathan Levy and Maxim Chumlecky as the Boys, Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer and Ruthie Ann Miles (Hucklebee and Bellomy), Zane Phillips as El Gallo, David Patrick Kelly as the Old Actor, Kevin del Aguila as The Man Who Dies, and Ahmad Simmons as the Mute.
Directed and choreographed by Christopher Gattelli, and featuring a book revised by Jones, the production has sets by Jason Sherwood, costumes by Linda Cho, lighting by Jen Schriever, sound by Nevin Steinberg, new orchestrations by Sam Davis, and music direction by Rick Hip-Flores.
Performances begin October 22 in advance of a November 15 opening.
